The Honors Program

The Honors Program is a unique opportunity for instrumental students to practice and perform in a large ensemble setting and make new friends from all over East Baton Rouge Parish.

The Honors Program also supports the development of important social skills like teamwork, responsibility, and decision-making in addition to preparing students for auditions and ensembles that are found in most middle schools throughout the Baton Rouge area.

WHO’S ELIGIBLE FOR THE HONORS PROGRAM?

  • 2nd through 6th grade students in the greater Baton Rouge area that are on their 2nd year studying an instrument

WHAT’S THE COST FOR THE HONORS PROGRAM?

  • For students currently enrolled in KO: FREE
  • For students not currently enrolled in KO: $100

WHAT DO STUDENTS GET WHEN JOINING THE HONORS PROGRAM?

  • A KO Honors t-shirt
  • A minimum of 12 rehearsals with professional musicians and Honors Directors
  • The opportunity to participate in 2 community performances
  • UPON REQUEST: instruments for students not currently enrolled with KO

WHEN IS THE HONORS PROGRAM HELD?

  • Sunday, November 17 from 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm: 1st Rehearsal and Parent Meeting
  • Various Sundays from 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm throughout November 2019 – May 2020
  • Upon acceptance, you will receive the Honors Program calendar with specific rehearsal dates
