Books & Music
This month, Books & Music will explore the world of Rum Pum Pum, a book about a tiger who has no friends until he finds a drum. Join Kids' Orchestra instructors to learn some dance moves from India and play a glockenspiel (what's that? come to Books & Music and find out!). Children will learn each other's names using Raffi's song "The more we get together" and act out some animal emotions by using sound effects. As always, this program will promote a love of both books and music through joyful play.
Taste of Mid City
We are thrilled to announce that Kids' Orchestra is the 2025 beneficiary of Taste of Mid City! Hosted by Franklin Associates and The Executive Center, this annual event brings together the city’s favorite eateries to celebrate the food and culture hub of Baton Rouge while making a lasting impact on our community. KO student performers will be featured throughout the event, showcasing their talent and the power of music education.

Books & Music
Imagine that your favorite activity in the entire world is playing music. Then, imagine that you lose your ability to hear with your ears. Did you know that there are ways of listening through other parts of your body? Come hear the story of Evelyn Glennie, the world-famous first ever full-time percussion player. In addition to the book (Listen by Shannon Stocker), children will enjoy both rhythm and listening exercises, meet professional percussion players, and dance a Scottish Circassian circle dance (because Evelyn Glennie is from Scotland).
Pelicans Fundraiser Game
Join Kids' Orchestra at 7:00pm on April 11th, 2025 at the Smoothie King Center to cheer on the New Orleans Pelicans as they take on the Miami Heat! For every ticket purchased through the link below, the Pelicans will donate $5 to Kids' Orchestra. KO students will also be featured throughout the evening through concourse performances, the National Anthem, and pregame.

Books & Music
Splish splash rumba-rumba bim bam BOOM!” What’s that moving around in the swamp outside? Come hear how siblings and neighbor kids conquer their fears, climb trees, run in the mud, and … (you’ll see!) We will enjoy Kristyn Crow’s rhyming, rhythmic, musical Bedtime at the Swamp as children sing, dance, play a name game, and sample percussion instruments. May’s sessions will wrap up our 2024-2025 Books & Music program year, which has been dedicated to drums and percussion.
NOLA Gold Rugby Fundraiser Match
Join Kids' Orchestra at 6:00pm on May 24th, 2025 to cheer on NOLA Gold as students from the KO Harmony Collective are featured throughout the evening. Students will perform the KO Fanfare, National Anthem, and music in the stands throughout the match.
A portion of every ticket sale will be donated to Kids' Orchestra.
