BOOKS & MUSIC

Make a joyful noise! Books & Music celebrates the Thanksgiving season with two beautiful books by Native American musician-poets. Participants will learn to sing the refrain to Buffy Sainte-Marie’s “Still This Loves Goes On” accompanied by drumming and dancing. Next, we will explore all the earth’s gifts with the incredible artwork and poetry of poet laureate Joy Harjo’s “Remember”. As always, children will meet professional musicians and participate in interactive musical activities that complement each book.

BOOKS & MUSIC

Make a joyful noise! Books & Music celebrates the holiday season with a “Nutcracker Suite” freeze dance, some very jingly bells, and the story of a nonverbal boy who goes to a concert and says “Wow!” to the delight of everyone in attendance. Prepare to hear a story and make some music! Children will engage in hands-on musical and movement activities with teaching artists from the Kids’ Orchestra. All ages and skill levels are always welcome.
