EBRPSS
East Baton Rouge Parish School System

Kids’ Orchestra was founded in East Baton Rouge Parish, and while we have expanded and extended our reach to other parishes, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System remains an important part of our services. Through this partnership, we offer afterschool programs at 4 EBR Elementary Schools; Audubon Elementary, Baton Rouge Foreign Language Immersion Magnet (BR FLAIM), Westdale Heights Academic Magnet (WHAM), and The Dufrocq School. We have been able to serve more than 50,000 EBRPSS students in the last decade by providing group music lessons, free instruments, Social Emotional Learning activities, help with homework, and healthy snacks during the afterschool programs.

The Ascent Project

Kids’ Orchestra is proud to partner with the Ascent Project starting in the 2022 school year. The Ascent Project, Inc. (TAP) seeks to introduce, connect, and enhance youth educational experiences through access and immersion in enrichment programs on site (Math, STEM, Tutoring, Agriculture, the performing arts and music production). In addition to providing academic support, the program will also support social & emotional development, cognitive development, promote prosocial behaviors, and overall, provide a safe and supportive environment for children and youth. TAP will continue to create excitement for learning that builds a legacy of healthy communities. Through this partnership, Kids’ Orchestra will be providing music classes and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) activities for the students.

Red Stick Mom
EBR Library
East Baton Rouge Parish Library

Kids’ Orchestra is partnering with the East Baton Rouge Parish Library System to provide the Books & Music series at three different branches; Goodwood, Bluebonnet, and Jones Creek. In this series that is designed for 3-11 years old, students are invited to an experiential program that combines library books with music education. Each month, children will explore a theme as they learn about an instrument, sing a song, explore a dance, and play a game–all inspired by a book in the East Baton Rouge Library collection.

BRSO
Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra

Kids’ Orchestra and Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra have partnered to create a pipeline of young musicians that will contribute to the musical community in Baton Rouge through performances, education, and advocacy. Through this partnership, a number of KO students take free private lessons in addition to group lessons to prepare to take the audition of Louisiana Youth Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra provides free tickets to their performances to our students and their families.

University United Methodist Church (UUMC)

Has been a great partner to Kids’ Orchestra by providing space for some of our private lessons. Kids’ Orchestra continuously strives to make its programs more accessible. UUMC being so close to the LSU School of Music makes a perfect location for our Teaching Artists to travel to and allow us to expand our private lesson offerings for the families in that area. Our students greatly enjoy hearing the sound of their instruments through the beautiful resonations of UUMC.
