About Kids’ Orchestra Afterschool Program

Two to four times a week throughout the school year, nearly 350 East Baton Rouge Parish elementary students receive afterschool group music lessons instructed by professional Teaching Artists. Kids’ Orchestra offers violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, percussion, and a music foundations class. Instrument offerings vary by program site location. Kids’ Orchestra is open to all kindergarten to 5th grade students in Baton Rouge and the surrounding area.

About Kids’ Orchestra Honors Program

The Honors Program is available to 2nd to 5th grade students entering their second year on an instrument. Rehearsals are held on Sunday afternoons at McKinley Middle Magnet School. This opportunity is available at no extra cost to currently enrolled Kids’ Orchestra students and is available for a nominal fee to other elementary-age students in the greater Baton Rouge community.
